Behold, the nine-banded armadillo! The roly-poly of the mammalian world! This incredible illustrative etching is by artist Edouard d'Alton, and depicts in stunning detail the skeletal anatomy of a nine-banded armadillo (also called the common long-nosed armadillo) (Dasypus novemcinctus). It's one of d'Alton's many gorgeous pieces from the 1821 osteological masterpiece Die vergleichende Osteologie. Is that the best collection of scientific illustrations ever published? In our opinion, it's got to be right up there. Sometimes we dream about it at night, and can almost smell its pages.

This is the perfect piece for armadillo enthusiasts (we know you're out there, raise your hands please), vulture culturists, bone collectors, osteologists, animal anatomists, zoologists, any of the ologists really. It's also a terrific conversation starter, because people will want to guess what animal is on your shirt, and then you can ease right in to hitting them with your favorite armadillo facts. We'll start you off with a great one: a startled armadillo can jump up to 4 feet straight up in the air!

This slim, fitted v-neck is made with Airlume combed and ring-spun cotton. What does that even mean? It means it's cozy and fashionable and... cotton-y.
